Training Workshops

Outlines of some of my  Workshops ( if it’s not here just ask!)

Abuse? Me?
Exploring participants’ personal experience of power and trust for home care and residential care staff in order that they can better avoid unwittingly abusing the people with whom they work.

Dementia Detectives in Care settings
My own model inviting staff to think outside the box in care and to use all the skills of a Detective to provide fantastic care as they enter the world where Dementia is the thief. Very popular- I can adapt this workshop for large groups or for a staff group in a care home or domiciliary care setting. This evolved in 2009 out of the Person Centred use of developing empathy to work out what was going on in the world of the person who cannot tell us.

Creative dementia care
Fun and engaging ways of learning about working creatively with people with Dementia. Ideas to take home and use the next day! Lots of props and materials used on this workshop.

Abuse? Me?
Exploring participants’ personal experience of power and trust for home care and residential care staff in order that they can better avoid unwittingly abusing the people with whom they work.

Discrimination? Me?
Exploring the personal experience of individual difference for home care and residential care staff in order that they can be more accepting of difference in the workplace.

Stress - we need it!!
Exploring participants’ personal experience of stress, the effect of working environments, the role of stress in productivity and individual strategies for reducing the negative impact of stress.

Understanding and working with self-harm
A workshop designed for anyone who comes across self-harm at work or at home, based on the experiences of people who self-harm. This workshop challenges myths and fear around self-harm.

Understanding and working with dementia
How does it feel to have Dementia? Can we communicate better with people with dementia? What exactly is a Person Centred approach to dementia care?

Attitudes to aging
Working with older people in our society. What issues arise? What skills do we need?

Being You
An introduction to the Person Centred Approach to life

Seeing the person, healing the child
Person Centred working with adults who experienced childhood sexual abuse. As a co author of a nationally recognised model of groupwork in this field I share insights and understanding through spending decades working with amazing people who have come to my groups and 1-1 sessions.

Team Building the Person Centred Way
Creating a safe space for teams to work together and grow, create and challenge if needed. Use of exercises and games I have developed. Come prepared to be challenged and honoured by your colleagues.
